Colour Inspiration – Plaster Pink

The heart of our home is our dining room. It has the most footfall as it leads to the kitchen and when it is messy, the whole house seems to be messier. When it is tidy, somehow the rest of the house doesn’t seem so terrible. It feels very welcoming despite it’s awkward shape. It’s probably the most humble space in the house but to me, it also feels very special. There is a beautiful energy, especially when the sun comes through.

There are several changes I’d like to make. We already took out the old fireplace, the TV mount and the old heater controls, all of which have left a horrible mess. Aesthetically, I loathe the deep red wallpaper and the recessed lighting.

I had it in the back of my head that I wanted to paint one of the other rooms pink but one day I walked into the dining room and I could just tell it would look gorgeous in an earthy blush shade, especially with my dark wood furniture. Light enough to open up the space but warm enough to lean into the cosy feeling I get when spending time there. I’ve also considered doing the colour drenching trend (I love that it saves doing a clean job on the seam between the wall and the ceiling!). I think that would make the space feel even more comfortable, ironing out all the awkward angles.
