Minimal Makeup Favourites
A gorgeous collection of makeup for me is having a few pieces that I can rely on over and over again. It makes getting ready so much quicker and I get the satisfaction of finishing a product, rather than having lots of cluttered unfinished bottles and tubes in my makeup bag.
Over the years, I’ve also become a lot more considerate of what I buy, investigating brands to make sure they are cruelty free and questioning the ingredients, preferring to purchase vegan. Being informed on the product makes me a bit more selective which, in turn, prevents me splurging thoughtlessly.
These are my current favourite products that I use every day, all of which are cruelty free. Most are also vegan (with the exception of the NYX lipstick, which contains beeswax).
Charlotte Tilbury – Unisex Healthy Glow Hydrating Tint – This has become one of my favourite, essential products over the last year. My use of SPF despite living in one of the cloudiest areas of Scotland means I am naturally very pale, so I like to use this as a little tanning boost. It’s very moisturising and gives a lovely dewy glow to my skin. I only need to use a small amount to make a difference and I find it really helps to balance my skin tone.
Charlotte Tilbury – The Retoucher – A brilliant concealer, again a little goes a long way and the coverage is perfect for my skin. It has a very natural finish so I can build it up, depending on how much I feel I need on the day. I find it really long lasting too.
ELF – Waterproof Length & Volume Mascara – I adore ELF products. The quality and value is fantastic, and I love their company ethos. I’ve tried a few vegan mascaras and this is by far my favourite. The formula is perfect for building up for either natural or dramatic lashes and unlike some vegan mascaras, I find it doesn’t clump or flake either.
Barry M – Take a Brow Brow Gel – I don’t actually use brow gel all the time, as my eyebrows are naturally very dark and thick. However I have been trying to use it more often to tame my brows and create a more polished look. I find that this holds the shape without feeling too dry or hard so the result is very natural and effortless.
NYX – Creamy Lipstick in Thalia – The perfect, neutral shade for daily wear. It’s quite a subtle nude tone and I like that it looks light and low maintenance. It feels moisturising too and applies really well.
